Lots of guys, all full of drink this weekend. Seven friends from my distant past, a black ice skating rink, 5 km of skiing on nearby trails, and now tenderloin gets warm by the fire before roasting. Lots of red wine to come, with some laughs and a few ProLine tickets. Laughing and drinking. Too little of that in life, at least the laughing part. Here's to old friends, and to new. Great to laugh and drink with both.

Pinot - thank you so much for sharing your drink with us. I must say that I have been a bit absent with my drink posting since I started Reading Infinite Jest. Therefore, I would like to encourage you and The Abbot and even new father, Mr. Ashdale, to post a little more often to keep the blog moving forward. Having said that I would like to compliment you on the idyllic setting that -seems - to exist at your cottage. Just one question - were the skates by the roaring fire before or after the muse struck you, the drink rose up in you, to handblog this post? The scene seems to be almost too perfect - except of course for that garish recycle bin...(Hey - is that the Gran Lurton again?)
ReplyDelete!! Lilac Wine!! the vintage version by ELKIE BROOKS is the best!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Pinot - were you and the Boys Weekend Boys reading the blog or do we have a truly anonymous poster here? Whatever the case, Anonymous - thanks for your input. Elkie really is quite good. I'm sticking with Nina for now though.
ReplyDeleteYes, Pinot--lovely pic, sweet sentiment. It doesn't get much better--except to experience a thing like that, and to have the good sense to appreciate it, as you've done. Laughing, yes--generally not enough to go around. Genuine laughing.
ReplyDeleteI think I laugh more with newer friends these days than with older. Could be I see the newer ones more, or that the older ones are of a generally more serious cast...as I likely was. Not so serious anymore.
